Bag size: 38cm x 20cm (15” x 8”)
I designed this bag a good fifteen years ago for my Mum and when I saw her faded, well used bag I decided it was time for an upgrade. In fact the bag is so easy to make that I made it in three colourways but of course you can make it in any fabric you choose. The longer zip allows for the bag to be fully opened for your latest knitting projects and is long enough to comfortably fit your knitting needles. The front is made from two patchwork blocks and is fully lined. The handles are self made from matching fabric or you could use purchased handles.
The bag is available in three colourways as kits which include the pattern and the zip for $39.50, all you need to add is the needlepunch batting. I have a couple of kits left, so email me

The bags look equally wonderful made in a range of batik fabrics.

Interesting fact:
The first references to true knitting in Europe were in the early 14th century, although the first knitted socks from Egypt are older, some scholars dating them to the 11th century. At these early times, the purl stitch was unknown; in order to produce plain knitting it was necessary to knit in the round and then cut it open. The first reference to purl stitch dates from the mid-16th century, but the knowledge may have slightly preceded that.
