Designed by Mary Metcalf.
Purchase a
Japanese fabric ROLLUP and turn these (or similar) ten fabric strips
into this quilt measuring 52½'"x 52½" (1.34m x 1.34m).
All you need to add is .9m for the sashing fabric and .6m for the outside border.
This quilt shows the Kiwiana fabrics but it would be the same design but with Japanese fabrics.
In the
Japanese ROLLUP you get ten assorted fabrics approximately 10cm or 4" wide.
Here's the fun part. Apart from the name of the
ROLLUP e.g. Kiwiana, black and white, kid's fabrics or British, you won't actually know which fabrics are in the roll.
Trust me, I'll make sure they all work together :-)
Your ten x 4" strips equal a metre and you'll be surprised how large the quilt is just by playing around with the 9-patch block and some setting corners.
I'll throw in the
FREE pattern and later I will be designing other patterns using the ROLLUPs. Sort of like jelly rolls but bigger and easier to use.
Check out my
Christmas star table runner using a similar set of 4" strips.
Great for introducing someone to patchwork or for making a quick quilt.
All the fabrics are 100% quality cotton fabrics 1.10m wide.
