Complete your seascape quilt with these gannets flying south for the winter.  The birds fly parallel to the selvedge edge of the fabric.

The bird's wingspan is 3¼" (8cm).  A wonderful clear blue for the sea.

You can see gannet colonies in several places in New Zealand. Cape Kidnappers in Hawkes Bay is spectacular and we also have a smaller colony at Muriwai on the west coast just north of Auckland.
In the South Island there is Farewell spit.
