Designed by Mary Metcalf.
Wall hanging size: 13" x 29½" (33cm x 75cm).
The outside border fabric of the NZ koru is sold out but I will be replacing it with the same coloured batik but with a different pattern. See the fabric to the left.
The maori have long carved their fish hooks and pendants from pounamu (greenstone) or bone.
This wall hanging shows three distinct types of carving and each has a meaning.

Hei-Matau are often seen as good luck charms especially if the wearer is traveling over water. |
The single twist amulet shows the joining together of two people for eternity. |
The koru represents the fern frond as it opens bringing new life and purity to the world. |
The kitset includes all the fabric for the front, back and binding. All you need is to add is the batting.
I used a variegated Signature range thread for the machine blanket stitch and you can choose to add this to your kit. Just click on the relevant kit price to the left.
The thread is size 40 and has 457 metres on the reel. Plenty for several wall hangings.
