Pinmoors are designed by Loretta Ivison from California USA.
I had seen these Pinmoors demonstrated in Houston in 2010 and thought they were unique and very easy to use. I had forgotten about them until a customer asked if they were available in New Zealand, so
YES, now they are.
Loretta has produced a
Youtube video which gives you a very comprehensive idea of how and why you use you Pinmoors.
Basically you use your normal glass or flower head pin, pin the three layers of your quilt and then push the end into the Pinmoor, thus securing the quilt layers and making the pin safe.
While quilting the Pinmoor is easily removed and you can use them over and over again.
I have them in four different coloured packs.
Each pack has 50 Pinmoors.
Sorry the blue/purple/pink pinmoors are currently sold out.
And here's a testimonial from a very well known quilter
"I think Pinmoors are a great new option for layering quilts for machine quilting. For fragile fabrics, silks, digital images on cloth, painted areas, anything where a safety pin might cause big holes or damage, Pinmoors with your choice of fine straight pins are the answer.
For anyone with hand/wrist problems Pinmoors are easy to use and easy to remove. You can quilt right up to them and then easily remove pins as you work. I like that they are non-toxic in case a pet will swallow one. They are easy to take out and re-position as you work. Love the bright colors so you can see them as you quilt."
